This seminar will be led by KMI’s Clinical Director, Adam York and will be appropriate for all foster and adoptive parents.
As foster and adoptive parents, many of us understand the critical contributions that Attachment Theory has given to our understanding of our children. In this seminar, Adam will discuss how attachment theory influences how we relate to our significant others from the cradle to the grave. The fear of losing connection with our partners leads us to paradoxically act in ways that disrupt connection and leave us further apart. In this 90 minute seminar, Adam will introduce you to critical concepts in understanding your marriage and guide you through a brief exercise to help reflect on how to relate at a deeper level. Your marital relationship is the primary vehicle for modeling secure attachment to your children, and this occurs both through the way you respond to your partner and the way you respond to your children.
